Can We Talk about Disney Shutting Down Junction Point

Junction Point Studios was a video game developer founded by Warren Spector.  Now I'll admit to knowing very little about Junction Point before Epic Mickey. The only video game, I truly love.  Why am I bringing this up. Well, it was announced today that Disney has shut down Junction Point.

This is a bit disappointing but not unsurprising as the sequel to Epic Mickey, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two has been getting less then stellar reviews and I'll admit that I like it but it is not up to par with the original.   Again, this saddens me that we are losing this branch as this was Disney's first time making games that were actually good that weren't Kingdom Hearts. As to be honest most Disney games haven't been very good. 

Now  again as I said I am saddened by this news because Epic Mickey is the only game, that I've ever truly cared about. Let me paint a picture for how much I love the game.  I own the soundtrack, and the graphic novel adaption and for Christmas 2010, I was give the collector's edition and I loved it dearly and watched the documentary talking about the making of the game twice.  On this same topic, Warren Spector is a person I respect in the Disney sense as I  can feel his passion and love for Disney. Sure, there are some characters that I would've like to see in the now not happening Epic Mickey 3.  I respect him for bringing so many obscure Disney characters back to the forefront and more importantly, he gave one of the most important characters in Disney history a chance to shine again with what he did for Oswald The Lucky Rabbit.  For that as a Disney fan, I will be eternally grateful. But I must say that it is a crying shame that after only two games, the company was shut down.  I'm sad that we will never get to have another adventure in Wastelnad because I just feel that there are so many forgotten characters that a third game could've been feasible but what can you do.   

I guess while I will mourn the loss of Junction Point and be saddened that Warren Spector may not get another chance to work with these characters, he so deeply loves. I will always respect what the company did for my favorite Mouse and how they made me want to learn more about Oswald as the first Epic Mickey game was filled to the brimstone with a lot of great Disney history. So in that sense, I will miss them and I feel that the best way to close out this article is with my favorite piece of music from the first Epic Mickey.  Pirates of Wasteland.
