Take A Look at Disney

Can We Talk about Disney's One Too

Hello and welcome back. Today I continue my look at One Saturday Morning.  Though today I'm doing something different as while I'm still doing something related to One Saturday Morning,  I'm taking a look at Disney's One Too!  Now  One Too was spin off block of One Saturday Morning but it didn't really have the same feeling.   The shows were fine but it  was just something of oh, your here.  Most of the shows that they showed were from One Saturday Morning and others first aired during One Too.  An example of a show that aired during One Too first was The Legend of Tarzan.

This is a great show with a lot of great action  Now you may also say that there was the fact that it was on a different channel as it was on UPN. But I don't think so, that was the problem either.

In a lot of ways,  One Too reminded me of Fox Kids back when they would show their shows on an afternoon block, they did that here  and would also show these shows on Sunday Morning as well.

Going back  to this though, I think it worked with Fox Kids because it was one the same channel. Whereas One Saturday Morning was ABC while One Too was on UPN.  I'd also be lying if  I didn't say that I thought the name wasn't dumb.  Though granted it is better then the original name they wanted to give this block of  Whomptastic.   Which was later changed because Whomp was a word from the show, Recess was used as an alternative for sucks.   Which admittedly is a worse title then One Too!

Again,   this isn't a hit against any of the shows but rather me trying to understand why this  block of programs didn't work as well in my perspective.  Going back to the theme song for One Saturday Morning, listening to the lyrics, it almost seems as though that One Too! defeats the purpose of One Saturday Morning if you look at the lyrics.   Especially with this lyric.

Five hours of summer, once a week!

Just looking at this lyric, it seems as though that One Too! shouldn't have existed because One Saturday Morning was only supposed to be once a week as seen there.   Yeah, I understand why it was created for get more ratings for these shows but again it just wasn't the same. Was it bad? No, but it didn't even try to be as good as One Saturday Morning and at best, left me with a feeling of oh okay.   Yeah, I know I understand that One Saturday Morning was the main thing and this was just a spin off block but it just feels as though that it didn't try.      Well, that's enough of my ramblings.  Join me Friday when I conclude my look at One Saturday Morning when I take a look at 4 themes from shows that were part of One Saturday Morning.
