Dumbo II: Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?

Just watch this you'll understand

There were actually plans to make a direct to video sequel to “Dumbo”.  As I stated in my  last post, I do not mind direct to video sequels.  However this is taking it too far,   this should never even been thought of.   In my opinion, it is one thing to make a sequel to a Disney movie from this day and age but to make a sequel to a movie Walt Disney worked on is just insulting to his fans and the people who brought the first one to life.   For those of you who don’t know the story of “Dumbo” it is about a young baby elephant that is separated from his mother and has to learn to take of himself.   Along the way, he befriends a mouse Timothy Q. Mouse and they soon learn that Dumbo can fly with his giant ears.   One of the best things about this movie was that Dumbo did not speak and so the animators had to be able to convey emotion through Dumbo’s body language.
Making a sequel to one of Walt Disney’s most beloved movies is unbelievable.  The only sequel made that I can let slide is “Fantasia 2000” because Walt’s original vision for that movie was that a new version was to be released each year with different cartons but making a sequel to any of his other movies is just wrong.   From what I could gather from the video and other research I have done on this movie.  Timothy the Mouse was not going to appear.   in my opinion, why even make a "Dumbo II" if you are not going to include one of the most important characters from the first film.
However the straw that really breaks the camel’s back is that Dumbo was going to talk. Dumbo does not need a voice.  One of the reasons he is one of the cutest Disney character is because of how emotion is conveyed through his body language. It makes even less sense to have him talk when it is stated in the video that this film would have taken place one day after the ending of the first movie.
Lastly, I cannnot believe that they had the gal to refer to this as “Walt Disney’s Dumbo II” that is up there with having Dumbo talk.   Walt Disney was a man who very rarely ever wanted to do sequels because he believed you cannot top the original product and he is right in this case.  Well only way I see fit to close this out with

Thank you for not selling out
