Hello and Welcome back to Takeover Week. Today on Takeover Week, I'm taking a look at inspirational characters. Inspiration can be drawn from many different places. Whether it be a movie or a song. Sometimes, there are characters that inspire us. How? Well perhaps they never give up in the face of danger or they are willing to put their neck on the line for something they believe in or they just really creative. So join me today as I countdown who I consider to be the Top 6 Inspirational Characters.
6. Goofy/ Mickey Mouse
Coming in at # 6 are Goofy and Mickey. It's our only tie on the list but I had to. Let's start with Goofy. What is that makes Goofy so inspirational? Well, Goofy may not be the best or brightest out there but he always gets back up and keeps on trying. The way I see Goofy is that he is the living embodiment of the old saying "If at first you don't succeed, try try again". Because that is what Goofy does, he doesn't let his failures get him down. And always goes through life with a good attitude and a smile. Now as for Mickey, well. There are a few reasons and the big reason, I tied with him Goofy is because they both share the Never Give Up attitude. Mickey has found himself in plenty of sticky situations and sure, he may sometimes beat himself up, when he messes up but he gets over that and looks for a way to solve the problem and if at first, it doesn't work, he looks for another to get around the obstacle that he faces. The other big reason, I put Mickey on this list is because he & I share a common trait is something I learned from watching him along with growing up with two awesome parents. Mickey always looks for the good in people. As do I, he wants to see the best in everyone. And there is nothing wrong with that whatsoever.
5. Phineas and Ferb - Phineas and Ferb
Admittedly, I stopped watching Phineas and Ferb a while back as the show has gotten boring and I feel as though, they've run out of ideas for the boys. But when the show was in it's prime, these two were awesome and the reason they are on this list is quite simple. They would never let a day pass that they were bored. They would always find something to do and make the most out of any situation, they were given. And really, they just knew how to make fun and that is the big reason, I've put them on this list.
4. The Beast - Beauty and The Beast
I'm sure a lot of you are going "huh?" with this one. Well, here's why I find Beast inspirational. He shows that anyone can change. Sure he may have needed some help in order to change his way but he shows that it is never to late to turn your life around and there is always a second chance, if your willing to take it and Beast took it and with the help of Belle, he became a better person. And that is the big reason for Beast being on this, he shows that there is always hope for redemption.
3. John Henry - John Henry
John Henry is based on a real life American hero but I still wanted to include him for this list. Perhaps that is kinda cheating but then again my # 1 was also involved in a real historical situation. Now the big reason, I chose John Henry is quite simply, he perhaps has one of the best work ethics of any Disney character that I've ever seen and also add in the fact, the way he stands up for his fellow railroad workers. That right there is something to admire. He paid the ultimate price with his life in end during the challenge but the way he went out is something to be proud of and quite honestly, we could use a few more John Henry's in the world.
2. Ron Stoppable - Kim Possible
Again, I imagine that Ron Stoppable is another head scratching choice but here's why, I chose him. Ron is pretty much a fraidy cat but he is always by KP's side and willing to face his fears to help his best/girlfriend out in any situation. No matter what and he will always have her back. Ron has gone so far as to go solo on a mission just to give KP a Christmas with her family. Was he scared? You bet he was but he cared so much about KP that it didn't matter to him. He is willing to put their friendship above his fear. That is some serious loyalty right there.
1. Jack Kelly - Newsies
Okay, I will admit that I do kinda have a bias with this being one of my favorite movies but I can justify Jack being # 1. (I hope) As I said when John Henry, the Newsboy strike did actually but Jack is not a real person. Though that doesn't matter to me. The biggest reason, Jack Kelly takes the number one spot is A. because he shows no matter small you may think you are, if your voice is loud enough and you demand to be heard. You will be heard. With Jack, we also see that just because you may have to go through hardships to get what you want. You can't give up. Life will never be easy and you have to work in order to get what you want. Granted that is true of a lot of other Disney characters such as Tiana but something about Jack sticks with me more. As odd as it may sound, I have a deep respect for what Jack and the Newsies did. Yeah, it wasn't just Jack as it was all of the Newsies that went on strike but within the film, Jack is the one that initiated the strike and didn't back down. Sure, he got scared. Who wouldn't in the situation the Newsies were in? But when push came to shove, Jack was there.
There you have it, my Top 6 Inspirational Characters. I hope you enjoyed this list and I didn't intend this to be an all male list. It just happened that way. I might have to do a female list to balance things out. Who are some character, you find inspirational? Tell me in the comments. Peace! Join me tomorrow as I continue Takeover Week as I countdown my Top 6 Belle Moments.
