Being at this for over two years now, there are some movies that are bound to come up multiple times on this blog. It just tends to be my nature. Now this isn't a countdown of all the films, that I've talked about in the past but rather just a look at some of the films, that I've talked about a lot in the past and reflecting on why.
A Goofy Movie
Yep, had to start with this one. Okay so compared to the others, this one hasn't appeared as much but it has still had quite a few appearances. I mean after it was my very first blog and Goofy did land at # 1 on my Disney Dads list and I've talked about the music quite a few times on Music Fridays. Perhaps one of the big reasons for that is nostalgia. At one time, I used to claim this as my favorite Disney movie. That's no longer the case but I still do enjoy it greatly. I mean I've reviewed it twice actually and as I was saying, I think part of it is because of nostalgia. This is the film, where I learned that Walt Disney became a real person and in a way, I feel that in a way this film set me on my path to becoming the Disney fan that I am today because once I learned that Walt was a real person, my little elementary school mind thought "That's Awesome!"
Dumbo
Okay, this one should've been obvious. I mean, I've mentioned on numerous occasions that this is my favorite movie. I mean I dedicated an entire week to this film. Of course that is also the same week, I've suffered Davis. Now it's funny but this really didn't become my favorite movie until I was 15 years old. Up until that point, I'd always liked this movie because of Timothy Q. Mouse but watching again when I was 15 years old, something just clicked in me to the point where I realized that I'd always loved this movie and was perhaps a bit embarrassed to admit (even to myself) that this was my favorite film. Because this isn't the type of film that a 15 year old should claim as his favorite. That is just so childish. Looking back, I can see that was silly to hide my affection for this film and okay are we how that dumb at 15?
Beauty and The Beast
This one is a bit different as it's not even a movie that wasn't one of my favorites before the blog. You see while I like it, I don't like it as much as the others that I have mentioned thus far. I think that perhaps the biggest reason, this one pops as often as it has is because it's a classic and there are so many things to talk about in this film from the music to the characters. Hmm, should do a Top 6 Beauty and The Beast Characters or Belle Moments list in the future. Getting off track, as I was saying I imagine this one has appeared on A Look at Disney so often because of how timeless it is and in that regard, I feel as though there is a lot that I can bring to this film when discussing it and I still maintain that my review for this film is perhaps one of my greatest film reviews that I've ever done.
Tangled
Now I've made my love for this film no secret. But the funny thing is before talking about it at great length on the blog, So in a strange way, I have A Look at Disney to thank for helping me discover my love for this movie. Rapunzel to me will always be the best princess. No one will take that title away from her and even though, they came in at # 2, Flynn and Rapunzel are in my opinion, the cutest Disney couple. I mean just looking at the different ways, I've talked about this movie is amazing. My very first Can We Talk about had to deal with how stupid I thought it was that people were upset over the title being changed and then of course, I kicked off my new segment My Idea, where I try to come up with a ride idea and I used Tangled for the very first installment as I detailed my ideas for a Tangled boat ride. Also fun fact, Tangled currently holds the record for most wins on Vs. with 3 wins.
Newsies
Now this is a film, that I'd known about for about 5 years before I saw it. What took so long for me to see this movie? Have you tried tracking this movie down, it's like hunting for the holy grail. At least it was for the longest time for me. Thankfully, that changed once I got my IPad as ITunes had this movie available as a rental and knowing that I'd been wanting to see this film, I went ahead and rented it. Quite honestly, watching this film was the highlight of my day as I was rather sick when I watched it. But while watching this film, my mind wasn't focused on how sick I was. Instead, I was just so engrossed in this film and loving every moment of it. As this story is just so captivating. Now with this film, it hasn't been mentioned as much as the others on here but it's been brought up quite a bit since I first reviewed it. Newsies is a film, that I can't really explain my love for but each time, I watch it, I feel as though I am there with the Newsies as the strike is happening. I honestly have to say that as of right now, Newsies is perhaps my favorite live action Disney musical.
So there you have it, just some of the film that have popped up a lot on A Look at Disney. I'm sure there are others but these are the ones that stick out to me the most and I hold all of these films dear to my heart in one way or the other.
