Many of Disney's films have an element of magic to them. Sometimes it's a magical character such as The Fairy Godmother or Genie or in today's case, magical items. Join me as I countdown the Top 6 Magical Items that Disney has given us over the years. The only stipulation that I have for this list is that it must've actually been magic, therefore The Magic Feather from Dumbo does not count for this list.
6. Rapunzel's Hair (Healing Song) - Tangled
Admittedly, # 6 is not a separate item but rather part of the main character in this film. Even still, it plays an important part to film. Rapunzel's hair can channel energy from the sun and it can be used to heal people. Rapunzel gained this power when her birth mother is ill while in labor and she drinks a tea from the magical plant that channels the sun. This is why Mother Gothel decides to kidnap Rapunzel as she uses the hair to keep her younger because besides healing power, it can also be used to keep people young. It may not be the greatest but it can be used for good and the way Rapunzel's hair glows when she heals someone is quite stunning and of course, we can't forget the healing song that she has to recite. Here's a video of the healing song along with the lyrics for you guys.
Man, I love the music in this movie and this song is no exception. So simple and pure, it really does give off that feeling of being a spell. Here's the lyrics for you guys.
Flower gleam and glowLet your power shineMake the clock reverseBring back what once was mineHeal what has been hurtChange the fate's designSave what has been lostBring back what once was mineWhat once was mine
5. Genie's Lamp - Aladdin
Genie's Lamp is really just that a lamp but I have always liked the look of it and plus it is very spacious, it may look small on the outside but on the inside at least according to the TV show, there is plenty of room.. Which contradicts the movie a bit but even still. Now the lamp itself doesn't hold any magic except for when you rub it and releases the Genie. So this one I had to teeter back and forth on if it really counted or not and at the end of the day, I say it does. While were on the topic of lamps, I think I should also mention Jafar's lamp. Which granted is just this lamp but the design of the lamp was changed to match Jafar.
The design of Jafar's lamp is very sleek and it has this look to it that makes it look rather modern. I really like the design of Jafar's lamp. Almost more than Genie's lamp because it is really cool to look at.
4. Pixie Dust - Peter Pan
I love Pixie Dust. I mean c'mon, magic dust that lets you fly is just cool. It's simple stuff to use, just sprinkle it on ya and think happy little thoughts and the dust will do it's stuff. That is great, the Pixie Dust to me is just like a bit of happiness that you can sprinkle all over. Also never forget this...
Faith, Trust,& Pixie Dust.
3. Mary Poppins' Bag - Mary Poppins
If this was a list of magical ladies, Mary Poppins would most likely take the top spot. Her bag just like Genie's lamp may be simple in nature but the magic in the bag comes from watching Mary pull of these huge things that should not fit into a bag of that size out of it. It really boggles the mind and the mind is just so curious to know more about this bag. It's almost a childlike sense of curiosity that rises from seeing Mary pull all of this stuff out of her bag. That childlike sense of wonder with the bag was not lost in the stage adaption either because I was still left thinking "How did Mary Poppins fit all of this in her bag?" The bag may be one of the simpler items on this list but it causes so many questions to pop up in my mind that I could not leave it off this list.
2. The Enchanted Mirror - Beauty and The Beast
Okay, before I get too far into this, let's clarify one thing. I went back and forth over the mirror or the rose and at one point, I almost had them both on this list but at the end of the day, I had to with the mirror. Don't get me wrong, the rose does play an important part in the film but I've always liked the mirror more. As it was said in this film is the mirror was Beast's window to the outside world. I don't know what it is about the mirror but I like that it could be used as a window to the outside world and I would love to have something like this and the way that Belle uses it to see her father is really tragic and let's not forget that Belle used it to show the townspeople the Beast. Perhaps not the smartest move but at the time, she was thinking with her heart.
1. The Sorcerer's Hat - The Sorcerer's Apprentice (Fantasia)
When coming up with list, I knew I wanted this to my # 1. There is just something about the hat and how the magic that it hold that is intriguing. You can really blame Mickey for wanting to try out the hat, it's right there and it's so tempting to put it on and try it out for yourself with all of the magic it contains. It is so cool and next time, I go to Disney World, I'm getting myself one. Let's not forget in the Nic Cage film of the same name at the end, they had a hat that looked similar to this but at the end of the day, I'll always go with this one. This little hat holds so much magic and if in the wrong hands like Mickey, it could cause some trouble and chaos.
