Top 6 Disney Heroes Countdown

Since I enjoyed the top 6 countdown, I have decided to three more, first up are the top 6 Disney Heroes.  A hero can come in any shape or form, they do not have to be perfect and sometimes that helps their character develop if they are not perfect. They may a rebellious teen, a nerd or a street rat.  With that said, let's start the list.


6.  Milo Thatch  - Atlantis: The lost Empire


When Atlantis first starts, we are introduced to Milo Thatch, a gawky young man, whose wishes to fulfil his late grandfather's dream of finding the lost city of Atlantis.  In the beginning of the movie,  the audience is given the impression that Milo is nervous and unsure of himself.  I would however like to state that I believe Milo was just anxious to Atlantis.  As I stated in the beginning Milo is gawky and unsure of himself but when comes to the final fight to save Atlantis, he takes charge and goes from being gawky and nervous to becoming brave and confident.   I believe next to Marty McFly, this Micheal J. Fox's best role ever.

5.   Jim Hawkins - Treasure Planet

Jim Hawkins is another character, we see develop throughout the course of the movie.  Jim starts off as a rebellious young teenager only caring for himself and his mother.  However, when young Jim is given the map to Treasure Planet and goes with a motley crew of space pirates, he matures fast.  Thanks in part to Long John Silver who serves as a mentor and father figure for the boy.  Jim left his mother a rebellious teen but he came home a mature young man because of the events he had gone through. 

4.  Bolt - Bolt

The story of Bolt is truly sad and I very quickly sympathized with this character.  Bolt is the star of his own TV show, where he plays a super dog but in Bolt's mind it is all real so when his friend, Penny is kidnapped he leaves the studio to go looking for her.  Not realizing, he is just an ordinary dog but along the way, he meets Rhino, a hamster who is a TV junkie and Mittens, a stray alley cat.  Mittens informs Bolt that he is just a regular dog. Bolt along with his two new friends go through many states to try and reunite him with Penny.  Once Bolt gets back to the studio where his show is taped, a fired has started and Penny is trapped inside and Bolt proves he does not need superpowers to be a super dog when he saves Penny.

3.  Beast -  Beauty & The Beast

You have probably noticed by now that majority of the heroes listed go through a change of some kind and well Beast's change is perhaps the most dramatic of all.   Beast starts out as an arrogant and rude man and his turned into a Beast because of his actions towards an old woman.  The only way for Beast to restore his human self is by falling in love.  Which he does with Belle At first, they do not get along but slowly over time they fall in love and Beast is willing to do anything to protect Belle.  This is best shown in the end when Gaston storms the castle.  While Gaston does not harm Belle, he harms Beast but Beast fights backs  and takes a stab from Gaston but Gaston falls form the castle. In this moment, you can see Beast going from rude and arrogant to kind and caring.

2.  Aladdin - Aladdin

Aladdin is another great hero who also goes through a change  and that is perhaps the main reason I have chosen all of these heroes.  Aladdin starts out as a Street Rat, just trying to get by on what he can but with help from the Genie, he wins the heart of Princess  Jasmine.  Granted, he does lie about his life but in the end he proves even a Street Rat can  defeat evil when fights Jafar and uses his quick to trick Jafar. 

1.  Mickey Mouse

Now Mickey may seem like an unlikely choice but back in his day, Mickey could wipe the floor with the best of them Mickey was quick on his feet, mischievous and knew how to fight.  This is best portrayed in "The Brave Little Tailor"  where Mickey volunteers to fight a giant to win the heart of Minnie.  In recent years, Mickey's playful and heroic side have been toned down and he became just another cartoon character.  That was until  Warren Specter started work on "Epic Mickey" which reintroduces the mischievous and heroic side when Mickey is sucked into Wasteland and there he must save Wasteland from the Shadow Blot.  It is nice to see Mickey being heroic again.
