Top 6 Disney Sidekicks/Supporting Characters

Well, here is the second of the Top 6 countdowns that I have planned. Last time, I counted down the Top 6 Disney Heroes, well every good hero needs a sidekick.  While I did say sidekick, you may have noticed that I labeled this Sidekicks/Supporting Characters.  The reason for that is some of these character are hard to label as sidekicks and while some start out as sidekick they become more over time.

6.  Penny - Bolt



In my honest opinion, Penny was one of the best characters in "Bolt".  It was obvious from the get go that she cared for Bolt and did not want to continue lying to him and when Bolt went missing, she wanted to do anything to find him.  Now, I have read people say that Miley Cryus was miscast in this role but I would have to disagree because I feel she poured her heart into this character and if she had done more movies like this instead of "Hannah Montana", people  might take her a little more serious.

5.  Timon & Pumbaa - The Lion King


Timon & Pumbaa have always been two of my favorite Disney characters and I feel that they are the best comedy duo Disney has produced.  With saying that, you may be wondering why I only placed them at number 5.  Well, in part because of Timon and how he is hesitant in wanting to help Simba whereas Pumbaa knew it was the right thing to do. I still love these guys but if Timon had been quicker to help Simba, I would have placed them higher.


4. Jiminy Cricket - Pinocchio



Jiminy Cricket is an important figure in Disney history seeing as he was the first official Disney sidekick.  With that said, I must give him his due because he branched out form his movie and became a starring character in other  Disney features.  Jiminy is a great sidekick because he cares for Pinocchio and is willing to help him but of course that is his job seeing as he is Pinocchio's conscience.   His actions do feel genuine and it is clearly shown that he cares for the little wooden puppet.


3.  Tinkerbell  - Peter Pan


Tink needs no introduction if your a Disney fan.  Tink is just great, she's sassy, spunky and independent.  And that's without saying a singe word.  Just like Dumbo, she is one of the great Disney characters because of how she conveys emotion through her body language.  She may have grown a jealousy towards Wendy but when Peter needs her help she is always on stand by with some Pixie Dust. 


2.  Genie  - Aladdin



Just as with Timon & Pumbaa, Genie is one of favorite Disney characters and he is one of the best sidekicks because jsut like all others he cares for the hero.  However, the two things that truly established as a great sidekick and supporting character would be Aladdin's second wish when Aladding was drowning and Genie did everything possible to save him.  The other thing is Genie's wish to be free while he may be the comic releif, he just does not want to bounddown any longer and that is in my eyes heartbreaking because everyone deserves freedom.



1.  Timothy the Mouse  - Dumbo


If you read my post about Timothy the Mouse, then you should have seen this one coming.   As I stated I love Timothy the Mouse and I think he is the best Disney Sidekick/supporting character because of  how he sticks up for Dumbo against everyone else. Just like Jiminy, he kind of serves in the role of a conscience but I think he does it better and how of  his actions just seem more genuine.  I will admit I chose him for the number one  spot based a little bit on the fact that we share a name.
