Mickey Mouse (2013) Mondays: Panda-monium

Hello & welcome back to Mickey Mouse (2013) Mondays and today, we are  taking a look at the short, Panda-monium.  Does this short continue  last week's trend of delivering another good short or this short another dud?  Well, there is only one way to find out.  Let's begin.

The Plot

We start the short with Mickey entering the Beijing Zoo, where Mickey is taking various pictures of different animals and comes across a baby panda that everyone is gushing over the panda and Mickey wants to take a picture of him but every time, he  tries, the baby panda changes his looks such as posing with a fan.

Mickey keeps trying through various methods to get pictures and he gets a an idea.   This is after he lands in a monkey pen. And uses the light bulb as a balloon  to try and get a better view of the panda.

Mickey lands in a tree but his camera is knocked out of his hand by an elephant.  Mickey falls out of the tree and lands in the panda pen and the panda steals Mickey's camera and  hits a pole twice and Mickey gets two black eyes and because of this, the mother panda mistakes Mickey for her baby and babies Mickey up and the short ends with Baby Panda taking a picture of Mickey.

Overall,  I wouldn't say this short was as good as Stayin' Cool but this was still highly enjoyable and it did get a few chuckles out of me from here and there. And Baby Panda reminded me of Michigan J. Frog from Looney Tunes, a bit and that is not a bad thing.  This short for what it was,  was highly enjoyable.  It did not make me want to pull my hair out like Gasp! did.   All right new shorts, you are doing a good job with two decent shorts thus far. Let's keep it up.

Characters

Mickey Mouse voiced by Chris Diamantopoulos

Oddly enough,  Mickey's frustration in this short were actually entertaining and done well in my opinion. Because you could feel for him and it never felt like Baby Panda was doing anything in malice to Mickey unlike Not-Figaro from Gasp! and all of the pain and suffering that Mickey suffered in this short came from himself and not paying attention.  These are just the things, I thought about this short as again,  this short wasn't so mean-spirited towards Mickey.

Baby Panda

Baby Panda was a very fun character and very funny in how he always evaded Mickey taking a picture of him.  There isn't really too much else to say about him other then yes, he is cute.

My Final Thoughts

Now one thing I forgot to mention in the review proper is that this short's dialogue is not in English but rather in  Mandarin Chinese.  This is a neat little thing that these shorts do that when they are not set in America,   they do not speak English as this has been done previously in shorts such as Tokyo Go, where everything was in Japanese.  With that out of the way,  while I wouldn't go so far as to say I loved or even liked this short but it was enjoyable but I don't if I'd return to it. That is not to say it's bad but it just has a feeling of being "there".   Join me next time as I take a look at...
