Argh, welcome back mateys and what be a voyage without some shanties. So join me as we sing some songs as I take a look at various of versions of Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life For Me). Let's begin.
We kick things off with the ride version and this is just a fun song that really sets the atmosphere of the ride. It's a bit silly but fun and just gets you excited for what is to come next and like any good Park song, it compliments the ride oh so well.
Okay, how did they make this song sound so creepy here? And yet, it's being sung by a little girl. It sounds like there is fear in her voice. Sure, it's only a few bars but even still, this version sends chill up my spines.
Can I just say that this segment has introduced me to a lot of covers, may I have otherwise never listened to such as this one, from guitarist Buckethead. I've only heard of the guy and this is the first piece from him that I've heard and it's not bad. It's a fun little take on the song that brings something new to it.
Yeah, look I don't hate the Jonas Brothers but...
This just doesn't feel authentic, which it isn't. Considering it's from a DisneyMania CD, where popular artists would cover Disney songs and it's just too fast and they are trying to hard to make it sound edgy. Why, this song doesn't need to be edgy? It's fine, the way it is.
There you have it, my look at the various versions of this classic song and join me on Monday as we continue our trek through the Caribbean as I take a look at how the Pirate film franchise has had such as strong presence in the theme parks.
