Music Fridays # 167: The Lion Guard

Hello & welcome back to A Look at Disney and to another Music Fridays.  The Lion Guard is a brand new animated series that follows the adventures of Simba's son, Kion as he along with his friends protect the Pride Lands and well, it's a pretty good show that teaches good morals about team work and not judging based on a perceived notion.  And the music isn't half-bad either.  It shouldn't be compared to the music of The Lion King as Elton John and Tim Rice had no hand in writing the music but it's pretty decent for a kid's show. With that out of the way, let's begin.

Here Comes The Lion Guard

This is the theme song for the show and it's really catchy. I'll probably be adding this to my Disney Playlist.  (Is anyone surprised that I have a Disney Playlist?)  It's fun, upbeat and gets you excited for the show that you are about to watch.   I really like it and this style does fit well with what one would expect with the music of The Lion King.  It is dang catchy and I can't wait to listen to it again.

Zuka Zamba

The honey badger, Bunga is the adopted nephew of Timon and Pumbaa. Just go with it and his life motto is less a care free philosophy and more live for the moment at full speed. He's the love the thrill of living and living for adventure as we hear in this number.

We're The Same (Sisi ni Sawa)

One thing I have to give credit to this show for is the character of Jasiri.  Why did it take them until now to have a hyena character that isn't evil?  That's what this whole episode was about, Kion had to get over his distrust of hyenas as he needed Jansiri help and she was able to show him that not all hyenas are bad.  And this song is great as we see these two characters look past their differences and help one another out.  And okay, Sisi ni Sawa just sounds really cool.

Don't Make A Stink

Yeah, this episode was all about getting Bunga to smell better and Ono, the bird takes the lead on this mission and here we hear Ono and two of my favorite sidekicks go back and forth on the hygiene of  Bunga.  Yeah, I imagine living with these two, you won't smell the greatest. As for this song, it's fun and the back and forth nature here.

There you have it, my look at the music of The Lion Guard. I hope that you've enjoyed this and I may return with some more music from The Lion Guard in the future. Peace!
