Take A Look at Disney

3/9/11

House Of Mouse

"Come On In. Wer'e All Rockin' at the House of Mouse".  That's right, today I will be taking a look at House of Mouse.  This is by far one of my favorite Disney cartoons because I like the idea of having all the Disney characters together under one roof.  Seeing as how this is my TV show review not including Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, The Buzz on Maggie and Kim Possible I'm not exactly sure I'll do this but I think I might try my movie review method but instead of starting with a trailer how about the theme song.

Theme Song

That Song is just awesome, it got me pumped up to watch the show each time.  The Disney fan in me loves seeing all of those Disney characters onscreen at the same time. I mean where else are you going to see Jafar, Willie the Giant and Tigger all on the same show. That is awesome. and oh in case you are wondering someone named Brian Seltzer sang that. Now I had never heard of him until I looked up the theme song.  I wonder what else he has done.

The Characters

Since I spent all of last week going over the characters, Iwon't go into great detail and besides  they are some of the most popular Disney characters. Instead I will go over their postiton at the club.

Mickey voiced by Wayne Allwine

Mickey wore many hats within the club, he was the club host. In this postiton he would introduce the bands and the shorts. He was also the co-owner of the club.  Also he was the club's general manager.  Perhaps I'm looking to much into this but I would have liked to seen an epsidoe that explained why Mickey and opened the House of Mouse.   The late Wayne Allwine voiced Mickey here and well he is the voice actor I grew up with for Mickey.  Fun fact: Wayne Allwine was actually married to the lady that voiced Minnie Mouse. In that sense, you can say Mickey and Minnie finally tied the knot.  I also feel that I don't give  the voice actors enough credit so I have decided to inlcude picture of the voice actors.  Wayne, I'll miss your voice as next to Walt, you were the greatest Mickey and thank goodness they did not replace you with Tom Kenny.

Minnie voiced by Russi Taylor

Minnie  served as the bookeeper and she kept the day-to-day operations going on in the club.  She is the one that would get all the acts and she was also moral support for Mickey and the gang. You could also say that she served as moral support.  Here is a pic of Russi Taylor.

Donald voiced by  Tony Anselmo

Donald's role in the club is one that has always confused because I was not sure what he did but his offical title was apparently assitant manager.  How did I not pick up on that? In the long run it does make sense to him in this postiton as it puts him in Mickey's shadow and Donald always wants to outshine Mickey.  I jyst never picked up on that. I can't say why I didn't though.  Here is a picture of Donald's voice actor and personally this has to be my favorite picture of a voice actor.

Goofy voiced by Bill Farmer

Goofy's role is quite humorous but I'm pretty sure that was intentional  ahs he was the head waiter and in case you are wonder who other waiters were, the peniguns from Mary Poppins.  Goofy made many goof ups but that is part of his character. There was even an entire episode dedicated to the staff trying Goofy less Goofy with the help from Lumiere. Here is a picture of Goofy's voice actor, Bill Farmer.

Daisy voiced by  Tress MacNeille

Daisy's role was  that of reservation clerk. She is the one that would check in the guests although her ambitions of being a stage performer  got in the way of her doing her job. While this was funny, I found this  attrtibute of her character rather odd because well she was already famous.

Max Goof voiced by Jason Marsden

Max was the club's valet and perhaps the most capable out of the group as he had perhaps the least stressful job but the fact that he did not own a car go to him and Max even pointed this out in one episode but Goofy didn't want him to own a car because he  didn't think Max would be a good driver but Goofy gave him a parking spot. Finally in the end though Max finally got a car with help from the staff when they pointed how Goofy was a  bit of a wreckless driver using the classic short, Freewayphobia. I'm not sure if that is not the exact title but it fits.  Now the name of this voice actor may not be familiar but if you watched ABC during the '90s you saw him on practially every TV show on that channel save for Family Matters.

Hewey, Dewey, & Louie voiced by

I have already covered Hewey, Dewey & Louie in the Kids of Disney and I'll just use that again. Mainly they were the houseband.  That's pretty much how there is to them and well I have actually already included a pcture of their voice actor as they were voiced by Tony Anselmo as well.

That takes care of the main staff but there two other characters that were recurring that I should mention and one original character for the  show.

Pete voiced by Jim Cummings

When I talked about Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and said that Pete was not EVIL! I was referring to Pete being a little more like this. Now yes, he was not physically threatening but he was still a threat as he was the landlord and was always trying to find a way to shut the House of Mouse down. I don't beleive he was successful but he came close when only Hades left in the club when the AC broke but the contract stated as long as one person stays in the club, it'll remain open.  I said he was his evil self in this but not phyiscally evil, here he more portrayed the greedy businessman. If I had to compare him to another character, I would have to say the business persona of Lex Luthor.  Pete's voice actor, Jim Cummings has quite a resume with just Disney iself as he  also voices Winnie The Pooh. He has also developed quite a fanbase and I would say that my favorite role he has played besides Pete which is great was Ray the  Firefly.

Mortimer Mouse voiced by Maurice LaMarche

If there was one character I disliked on the show, it was Mortimer.  He was Mickey's second rival who always vyed for Minnie's love.  While I like the fact that they finally gave a character the name that was originally meant to be Mickey's name but he just felt like a waste because I jsut don't understand the need of a sleezeball character in a Disney show. This is one character that I can say I hate but  my beleif is if you hate the character, the actor must be doing something if they are playing an anagtonist as you are supposed to like thier character. Here is Mortimer's voice actor, Maurice LaMarche

Mike voiced by Rod Roddy

Now I was not able to find a picture of Mike but you can see him at the beginning of every episode introducing Mickey.  Now his role was minor he jsut  opened  and closed the show. Though I was able to find a picture of his voice actor who is better known for the game show, The Price is Right.

There you go, the characters. Now I know I forgot Pluto but other than being the club mascot, I felt he serve no purpose on the show. Not to say he shouldn't have been on the show but he ws the least needed out of the gang.   This show actually received two direct to video movies, Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse and Mickey's House of Villians. They are decent but I perfer the series. If I had to pick  which one was better, I would have to say Mickey's House of Villians as that one has somewhat more intriguing plot where the villians take over the club and plus I love the final battle between Mickey and Jafar with Mickey using the Sorrecor's Hat again. Take a look for yourself.

Maybe it's just me but I also love the build up as this is something I would love to see more of. Of course they win, when Aladdin throws them the lamp. My only complaint is that I wish this had gone on a little longer but I still enjoy it.

There you have it, the House of Mouse.  It is a good show. Depends on your taste and I think it is and I wish Disney would either release the full series on DVD or starting ariing on Disney XD.
