Top 6 Jiminy Cricket Moments

Today is my best friend's birthday and to celebrate his birthday, I have decided to do a countdown centered around one of his favorite Disney characters, Jiminy Cricket.  Join me in celebrating his birthday as I countdown what I consider the Top 6 Jiminy Cricket Moments

6.  Appearing Alongside Timothy "Q" Mouse in Dumbo's Hat

I don't know how well you can make it out but in the top of Dumbo's hat there is Jiminy Cricket and Timothy "Q"  Mouse holding the sign holding the  the MICKEY sign.   Now this figurine  is a recreation of a scene from the opening the classic and good Mickey Mouse Club.  When I saw this, I knew that I had to include it as well Jiminy is one of his favorites and Timothy and Dumbo come from my favorite film.  I just  thought of our friendship when I saw this.    The only reason I'm placing this at # 6 is because I feel like I'm cheating including my favorite characters on this list a little bit.

5.  Becoming Mickey's  Conscience in an episode of House of Mouse

This episode  of House of Mouse has to be one of the funniest that I remember.  In this episode,  Jiminy stops being  Pinocchio's  conscience after  he catches him hanging with Pain & Panic.  The Blue Fairy informs him that he needs to be someone's conscience in order to keep his job.  Therefore against Mickey's will he becomes Mickey's conscience.  That's where  the fun comes in and also I don't think I have ever seen Jiminy be so assertive.  Something about him grabbing onto the collar of Mickey's shirt and surprisingly funny.  Just everything that Mickey goes through with his new unwanted conscience makes this one of my favorite episodes.

4. When You Wish Upon A...  Disney World Commercial

Ah, yes Mickey & Jiminy again.  True, this commercial has appeared on A Look at Disney in the past  but I like it. It is just a fun and simple commercial showing Mickey, the gang and of course Jiminy hanging out when all of the sudden all of these Disney attractions fall from the sky. I love how Jiminy is trying to get the guys to say "When You Wish Upon a Star" but none of them are picking up on that.

3.  Hosting Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dream

Wishes is a fireworks show at the Disney parks hosted by Jiminy and The Blue Fairy.  Now I have watched a little bit of the show on YouTube and it's pretty good.  I have to say I was surprised when I learned that Jiminy would be in this show because I was so use to Tinkerbell being the character that took part in the fireworks show but Jiminy did a great job.   This show just goes to show that Disney can use other characters in these shows quite well.

2.  Becoming Pinocchio's  conscience

How could I not include this moment?  This is one of the most important moments in the life of this character.  Becoming Pinocchio's conscience  is what set him to become of the most endearing characters and most likable. Even if he does come across a little stubborn.  Though through he proves to be a very caring person and does want Pinocchio to do his best.

1.   Appearing as the Ghost of Christmas Past in Mickey's Christmas Carol

What can I say?  This is my favorite Jiminy memory.  Because this is most fond  memory I have of Jiminy.  This was the first version of Christmas Carol that I remember watching. Also this moment stands out because of one particular line that has always stuck with me since I first heard Jiminy say it.

Hmph! Listen, Scrooge, if men were measured by kindness, you'd be no bigger than a speck of dust.

I think that line speaks volume and just shows the truth that Ebeneezer wishes not to face.  They couldn't have cast a better character in the role of Christmas Past. Here's a fun fact for ya:  This short was adapted from the LP, Disney's Christmas Carol and guess who played Christmas Past there. Not Jiminy but instead The Blue Fairy.  I like her but I think growing up with Jiminy as Christmas Past, I can't picture any other Disney character in this role.

Once again, I wish a happy birthday to my best friend.  To end this, I give you...
