Moviefan12: Hello & welcome to Theater Week. Yes, all this week on A Look at Disney, I'll be taking a look at the various aspects of Disney and the theater.
Usher: Sir, I'm going to have to ask you leave You are interrupting the show.
Moviefan12: No, we are not doing that again. We already did that joke once. I am not using it again just because I'm doing Theater Week.
Sorry about that but some people don't know when to let a joke go. Anyways as I was saying. All this week, on A Look at Disney, I'm doing Theater Week and I'm kicking it off by taking a look at the various posters for the Disney plays.
Beauty and The Beast
I must say that this is perhaps my favorite out of the Broadway posters. There is just something about seeing the silhouette of Beast holding the rose. It is simple in nature but I feel that it gets the emotion of this story across wonderfully as my take on this poster is Beast is looking at the rose wondering if he can change and love someone. Because he the knowledge and more importantly fear that he may hurt Belle. Now this is just my take on this poster. Maybe yours is different.
The Lion King
Not to much to say about this one. It's simple, it's just a headshot of a lion. I think it's supposed to be Mufasa. I like how it looks like something that Rafiki would've painted in his tree though.
Tarzan
Yeah, this is one is kinda boring. It seems to me as though, they were trying to copy the style of The Lion King poster and be straightforward with this one. But I think the big issue in that regard is that it leaves nothing to the imagination. Then again, I don't know what else you could do with it.
The Little Mermaid
I really like this poster. Just like with Beauty and The Beast, I can actually feel something here with this one. With this poster, I see it as Ariel looking at out at the human world while sitting on that rock and wondering what life on our land is like. And just the illustration on this poster is gorgeous.
Mary Poppins
Again, I like this one and yes it does do what I complained about with Tarzan. I think it works here because there is more to look at. And having Mary fly above the streets of London was a brilliant move for this poster as that is one of the most famous moments from Mary Poppins.
Newsies
Ugh, why is that my favorite musical that is listed on this article has the worst poster. It is so unoriginal, it's just Jack Kelly jumping holding a newspaper in front of a background of newspapers. It just looks so lame. I'm sorry but I don't like this one at all.
I hope that you've enjoyed this. Join me tomorrow as I countdown The Top 6 Emotional Lines of Disney Plays.
