Top 6 Bears

Bears have been featured in a lot of Disney films and shorts and today, I've  decided to dedicate an entire list to Bears.

6.  Mor'du - Brave

Our newest character on the list comes from Brave. Mor'du who I guess you could say served the antagonist role in this film. He was not always a bear,  he ruled over a kingdom with his three brothers. He went to see the witch to gain the strength of ten men. Well, he got his wish as he was turned into a bear.  Mor'du's presence only appears three times in the film but his presence is strong as he is feared by the kingdom and we see how strong and powerful, he actually is.  Not someone that you want to mess with and I think that is also shown in how big  he is.  He doesn't go down easily, I mean for cryin' out loud, Fergus lost his leg in a battle with Mor'du.   Now while I think Mor'du is cool and I do like him and I do like that Merida discovers the truth and he is turned back into a prince at the end, it just seems to come out of nowhere.  Now as much I love Brave, this is something that confused me a bit, I get that in order to save her mom, Merida had to re-sew the tapestry as that represented the bond that needed to be mended but when the spell broke,  did it also free the prince from being a bear.   I don't know!   Cool bear, all the same though.




5.   Baloo - The Jungle Book

Old Papa Bear himself, Baloo is just a fun loving character with a good heart. Y'know he cares for Little Britches as he calls Mowgli and shows him the ropes of the jungle while still having a fun time doing it. As seen in The Bare Necessities.







I think this song goes to show how much fun, he is.  He's just an all around fun character and really that's the best word to use to describe him.



4. Humphrey - Donald Duck Shorts

If you want a bear that is just all around silly, look no further then Humphrey. Humphrey was mostly used as a foil in Donald Duck shorts, when Donald went camping at Brownstone National Park.  Humphrey's main objective in these shorts was that he would usually try to steal a piece of food that Donald had brought with him.  Now fun fact: Humphrey debuted in 1950, 8 years before Yogi Bear and it has been speculated that Humphrey may have influenced Yogi somewhat but I don't if I see it as they are completely different characters. Yes, they both go after food but Yogi is much smarter then Humphrey (no offense Humphrey) and also Humphrey acts more like a bear whereas Yogi acts more like a person.



3.  Kenai - Brother Bear

Now we have another bear on here that started out as a human but the difference here is that Kenai was turned into a bear to learn a lesson and he took on the form of the last creature, he killed being a bear and from his time as a bear, he came to learn a lot about life and as we saw matured and developed a strong bond with Koda through journey as this is ostensibly a movie about one finding themselves and for that to happen, Keani had to take on the form of a new creature that being a bear.




2.  The Country Bears - The Country Bear Jamboree

Man, these guys are just so much fun and you gotta love the music, they play.  It is one of the best shows at the Disney parks and well, the Bears just put on a good old time with l of the songs, they play. It's a quiet show that doesn't get as much attention as it deserves but I still like it for what it is.


1.  Winnie The Pooh

Like it could be any other bear. It had to be Pooh Bear, he is just lovable and enduring. He has lasted so long over time and while all of these other bears are great, Pooh just has just great staying power.   From Sterling Holloway to Jim Cummings, Pooh has lasted as long as Mickey and is in some polls consider more popular.
