Lately on the radio, I have been hearing ads for a new show from Disney On Ice. Called Dare To Dream, this one is more on the girly side as it three stars are Rapunzel, Tiana and Cinderella.
This has led to me thinking about when I used to go to the Verizon Center up in DC to see one of the Disney On Ice shows. (Well that and how the heck does the lady playing Rapunzel not trip over all that hair?)
Now I recall seeing at least three of these of these shows but I only remember two vividly and those two shows were Jungle Adventures and Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey.
Just as with Dare to Dream, these two show took different films that had something somewhat in common with each other to produce the show. Though looking back now, Jungle Adventures pulled this off a tiny bit better as the three films used for this show included The Jungle Book, Tarzan and The Lion King whereas Magical Journey had less in common with each other. The films used for this show included 101 Dalmatians, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid and Lilo and Stitch. Now I do recall there being a subplot dealing with Mickey and the gang travelling the globe looking for adventure.
Though I will say that I actually enjoyed Magical Journey more even if there was a bigger disconnect. I just recall that one being a lot more fun but really I always had a blast at these shows. Though the year after Magical Journey, I didn't go to one of these show for my birthday. Instead I went to something else because I had been getting into this show for a while and I thought it would be fun to see.
While I enjoyed the first DWTS tour because I feel as though they truly pulled out all the stops for that show, the second show just lacked as it wasn't as much fun and granted part of that may be because my favorite dancer, Cheryl Burke didn't do much dancing in the second tour compared to the first one. At times the second DWTS tour felt a bit repetitive and I never had that feeling with any of the Disney On Ice shows as the shows always had a distinct flavor and style that helped separate them form each other.
After that the last Disney On Ice show that I truly recall hearing about was one that I was truly less than interested in as it featured characters from a film that I don't enjoy.
The last one I recall hearing about was The Incredibles in a Magic Kingdom Adventure and as I have stated in the past I do not care for this film. Therefore there is no way that I would have seen this show because that would just be silly. Why go see something if it features characters from something you do not like? That wouldn't make much sense.
In the end, I will say that I did enjoy these shows and as I stated above it was just another way to see Disney characters brought to life. Of course I realize that this was just another outlet for money and entertainment for Disney but I feel that at least with the two shows that I recall seeing they succeeded with entertainment. To end this, I wish to share with you a picture of a Safari hat that I got when I saw Jungle Adventures.
