This picture was released not to long ago. This picture is part of a series of photos titled Disney Dreams shot by famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz and if I'm to be honest, I like it. Now yeah, I don't like Taylor Swift and at first my reaction of Taylor Swift portraying one of my favorite Disney characters was something along the lines of this.
Again, this reaction mainly came from me not liking Taylor Swift but after actually looking at the picture, I have to say it's not that bad. Yeah, it doesn't have the same charm as animated Rapunzel. Rapunzel and Taylor Swift Rapunzel are two different entities.
The animated Rapunzel has that animated charm to her that I think is lost a little bit with this picture.
Now instead of charm, I think this picture is trying to class up Rapunzel and I think in that regard it works. It feels like a very classy version of Rapunzel. And as I said, this is not the Rapunzel from Tangled and I think if you can separate the animated Rapunzel from this picture and realize that Rapunzel and the tower were the inspiration for this picture, you should be able to appreciate this photograph for what it is and in the regard, this is the best work Taylor Swift has ever done in my opinion. Yeah, I'm still not a fan of her music but she is a good looking young lady and that is captured in this photo and she does make a good real life Rapunzel. What are your thoughts on this photograph? Well the other portairts aren't really about being a close physical resembelance of the character (they had Ursula played by a black woman) but a close symbolic resembelance. She symbolically represents everything Rapzunal is about. Hence why I think it works well.
