Hello & welcome back to A Look at Disney. Back in 2013, I did a Theater Week event and it is perhaps my favorite theme week that I've done as there is just a wealth of material to look at from the world of the theater. And I have decided that to open with another Theater event. However, this one will be a bit longer than a week. And here is what we will be looking at.
My Thoughts On Frozen Live/Frozen: A Musical Spectacular
My thoughts on Frozen Live, which opened at Disney California Adventure and we will see how it works. Now, this will not be a Screen To Stage(however, I will be breaking that rule with one Screen To Stage) as I've not seen this one in person. And I will also give my thoughts on the stage version that opened for the Disney Cruise line on the Wonder. And see perhaps, what the Broadway bound version can learn from these stage adaptations.
Screen To Stage: Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular
Next up, we will look at the show that came before Frozen Live at DCA as we look at Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. Once again, for those curious, as to why I'm not looking at the Broadway version, I haven't seen it.
Why Newsies Works Better Onstage
The musical that kicked off my Screen To Stage series will get another chance in the spotlight as I attempt to answer the question of why I think Newsies works better as a stage musical than as a movie.
Music Fridays : Top 6 Broadway Exclusive Songs
Pretty straightforward, a look at my Top 6 Favorite Songs that originally came from stage versions of Disney musicals
Screen To Stage: Mary Poppins
For our second Screen To Stage of the event, we will look at the stage adaption of one of Disney's most beloved movie musicals of all time as we have a jolly holiday with Mary Poppins
Screen To Stage: Beauty and The Beast
For our next Screen To Stage, I will take a look at a Tale as Old as Time as I look at Disney Theatrical's very first stage adaption as we look at Beauty and The Beast.
Screen To Stage: Snow White Live
As I mentioned up top, I would be breaking my rule of not having seen a musical in person to review it. I did that before with the awful Toy Story: The Musical but I try to stay true to that. However, this one I'm letting slide as it closed before I was born and it aired on TV in the '80s both on HBO and Disney Channel. And is perhaps, the most obscure stage adaption of a Disney movie to date.
Into The Woods
And finally, we close this event as we look at Disney's 2014 film adaption of the Stephen Sondheim musical, Into The Woods.
So, join me and have your tickets ready as we kick off this Return To The Theater tomorrow. Peace!
