3 Disney Attractions Featuring Bill Nye The Science Guy

Chances are, if you were a kid growing up in the '90s, you may have watched Bill Nye The Science Guy.  Well some of you may know this but for those who don't, his show was presented by Disney. His first appearance on a Disney show was when he appeared the '90s, MMC (The All-New Mickey Mouse Club)    Why do I bring him up? Well, his partnership with Disney expands beyond his show as you see has appeared as part of three attractions at Walt Disney World. Now I will be up front and honest say that out of all the Bill Nye attractions, I have only been on one but I have done some research on the other two and one of my podcasts WDW Memories even had a bit of one of the rides that he appeared on, so I know enough about that ride and that in part is what inspired this article a little bit.  The way this will work, is that I'll talk about the ride and how Bill Nye fits into it.

Cyberspace Mountain  - DisneyQuest

Now this attraction is not actually in Walt Disney World but rather at DisneyQuest (Something that I'll get to on future blog)  on Downtown Disney.   The best way to describe DisneyQuest is that is an interactive arcade.  Anyways, this ride is called CyberSpace Mountain and the concept of the ride is one that I enjoy. On this ride, you build your own virtual roller coaster and then get to ride to it. You put in the tracks, name it and decide how fast you want it got.  Now how does Bill Nye fit into this.  Well, when you build your coaster, Bill Nye is on the computer screen where you are building your coaster giving you pointers and saying that's looks good and all that stuff. To be honest that was one of the highlights of this ride for me.  Though on this ride, Bill calls himself Bill Nye The Coaster Guy.  Now, if you like the idea of getting to build your own roller coaster then riding this, I think you would like this ride.

Ellen's Energy Adventure - EPCOT

Now from what I have heard about this ride along with listening to it, Bill actually has a bigger role on this attraction.  This attraction sits in the Universe of Energy pavilion.  Besides, Ellen and Bill Nye, it also stars Jamie-Lee Curtis and Alex Trebek.   On this attraction,  Ellen has a bad dream where she appears on an energy themed episode of Jeopardy playing against old college rival, Judy Peterson and Einstein. It is shown that Ellen knows nothing about energy.   So during a break of Jeopardy, Ellen runs into Bill Nye who had come to see Einstein compete. He realizes that Ellen isn't doing so well and decides to take her back in time and teach her all about engery helping Ellen to win Jeopardy and crush Judy.  As you can see, Bill has quite the role in this thing. Now this isn't a ride but rather a show and it uses the travelling theater method that can be found in the Carasouel of Progress where the theater rotates to see each new scene. Now this is one of those attractions that I have never checked out and from some people I hear that it is rather boring but when I listened to the show on my podcast, I enjoyed myself. So, who knows?

Dinosaur - Animal Kingdom

Now, Bill's role in this ride is rather minor as he only appears in voice-over form giving information about different dinosaurs while waiting in the queue for the ride. Even still, that is pretty cool that he appears here. Though funnily enough,  this is not Bill's main expertise of science. Still, that is pretty impressive that he was willing to do this and learn.   I just say that is cool.

There you have it, these are the attractions that Bill Nye has appeared in and all of these are at Walt Disney World. Well, I only see one way to close this article....
