A Visit To The Hundred Acre Wood: Can We Talk about Tales of Friendship with Winnie The Pooh

Oh, hello there.  Pooh has lent me his thinking spot so that I can share my thoughts on the new upcoming Pooh Bear show, Tales of Friendship with Winnie The Pooh.  Very few details have been released on the new show but there is enough to share some thoughts.  For starters, this show will air on Disney Junior, not the block on Disney Channel but the new Disney Junior channel that has replaced SOAPnet.     This channel is similar to the likes of Sprout and Nick Jr. in that they are 24/7 preschool channels.  Personally, I'm a fan of this idea for a channel and add in the fact that this channel will be airing reruns of The Little Mermaid, they can show what they want.    

Now from what I understand, this series will be a mix of live action and CG.   Now I can look at this one of two ways.  On the one hand, I want to ask why after the last film which was done traditionally, why must it be CG?   As for the live action bits,  I'm assuming that this could be for the narrator bits and we may have an onscreen narrator. Which if true this would be the second time in any Pooh related media that the narrator would be onscreen because as stated earlier during  our visit, Welcome To Pooh Corner had an onscreen narrator.  I liked him and thought he was a great addition.  

Now the narrator has been hired and I'll admit that until I looked up this show, I'd never heard of him.  Apparently the narrator for this new Pooh show is known across the pond for edgy and biting roles.    Just so you know,  the new narrator is Robert Webb.  Again, I'd never heard of him until this show was announced. 

Now I have to admit that image of Webb with the book sitting in front of Pooh's house does give me hope but at the same time reading this does not.

Foul-mouthed Peep Show star, Robert Webb, has signed up as the frontman for a new Disney TV show.

I know  that I should separate the man from the show and to be fair, he isn't the first foul-mouthed comedian to take part in a children's TV show as George Carlin played Mr. Conductor.

Now I'm sure he'll reign it in but  I just don't know.    Now as for the time this show will air, it'll be airing during Disney Junior's bedtime block.   To help the little ones get ready fro bed.   I honestly think this is a cute idea and it reminds of the idea of reading stories to kids before bed.

At the end of the day, I'm not so sure on this new show but only time will tell.     Now I had originally planned for this new article to be part of my new segment, My Thoughts which is a spin-off of Can We Talk about but more positive.  At the end of the day, though I think I had to make this one a Can We Talk about as while I'm not overly negative on this show but just iffy.  Join me next time when I do my first film review of the event as I take a look at..
