Hello & welcome back to Theater Week. Today on Theater Week, I'm doing something a bit different as I'm talking about my thoughts on Disney's next upcoming Broadway musical. Aladdin. Admittedly, I am really excited about this one as I think there is a lot of great stuff that can be done with Aladdin. I mean can you just imagine A Whole New World with Aladdin and Jasmine flying over the audience on Carpet.
And also this is not the first time that Disney has adapted Aladdin as they had a musical adaption of it at Disney California Adventure.
So, they have worked with Aladdin in the past on something like this. Albeit on a smaller scale. Something that has really me excited is that there are rumors they are going to try and work in deleted songs such as Call Me A Princess and even better Proud of Your Boy.
Which if this song is in the musical, I will cry with joy. As this is one of the beautiful songs ever and it is a crying shame that it was cut. This song being featured in the play will be one of the best decisions that Disney would ever make. So yeah, this has me a wee bit excited.
Now there aren't many details out right now but I'm excited. This is going to be a lot of fun. I just know the sets are going to look great and Jafar will finally get another villain song. Sweet. I know that I am getting my hopes up for this but I do not want this play to fail. So what are your thoughts on Disney's decision to adapt Aladdin? Let me know in the comments. Peace! Join me tomorrow as I close out Theater Week with a special Music Fridays, where I take a look at my favorite Disney Broadway songs.
