The Golden Girls Disney World Episode Reveiw

Rollo T, you  said if anyone mentioned The Golden Girls it would be an instant Awesome Blog. Well instead of just mentioning it, I'm going to review an episode of it. Some of you may be wondering how this will work. Easy, like all great sitcoms from the back in the day, they  had an episode set in Disney World.  Now I'll be breaking this down like a movie review. While Rose and Blanche do have a story in this episode, it does not pertain to the Disney World portion so I won't be covering their story.   I'm going to start this reveiw by looking at the Episode title rather than the plot but I feel the title can help to explain the plot.

Episode Title

"Two Rode Together"  - This is a rather unique title when you look at it because I think it actually has a double meaning. By that you could go for the obvious that it means Sophia and Dorothy both went on a ride with each other at the park. However if you look closer you'll realize that it refers to the time they have spent with each other and the bond they have and how the love between a mother and daughter is unbreakable.

In this episode, Dorothy wants to spend some quality with her ma because she knows that she won't be there forever. But she goes about this in the wrong as she is trying to force these magical moments to happen. She doesn't realize that you don't make moments but rather let them occur on their own. All she wants to do is spend time in their hotel room looking at photos from the past but she is boring her ma to death who just wants to go on Space Mountain. I think they stayed at the Grand  Floridian.

At first, Sophia is excited about going to Disney World because she wants to go on the rides but when  Dorothy and her arrive. The trip takes an unexpected turn and for Sophia not in a good way. When she finds out, that Dorothy just wants to create moments, she starts to get agitated and this leads to her being bored and finally not wanting to spend anytime with her daughter. Sophia wants to distance herself from these moments. Finally, Sophia has to explain to Dorothy that you can't force moments to happen but rather let them occur naturally. That is best shown in this clip in the bar.





In  the end, mother & daughter reconcile and go on Space Mountain before heading home and Sophia finally gets to have some fun.


My Final Thoughts

While I used to complain that Disney World was barely featured in this episode, I now think it works for the story. In  a way, Disney World is where Sophia wants to be. The parks to be exact but with Dorothy wanting to create moments, the park is unattainable until Sophia is fed up and goes to the bar. I also like they are able to reconcile their differences without getting too mad or heated. That is the way it should be if someone made you upset tell them in a calm manner and explain what they did and why it bugs you.

Listening the last Transmission Awesome, everyone kept on mentioning how if someone mentioned certain topics such as The Golden Girls and Hall & Oates, it would become an instant  Awesome Blog. I know they were joking but these topics gave me and idea how can I cover these certian topics while still staying true to the title of my blog series. I knew that there was a Golden Girls episode that took place at Disney World and I thought ok, I'll review that but I also wanted to include something related to Hall & Oates. Sadly, I could not find any videos of them perfroming at either Disneyland or Dinsey World but then I came across this AMV and I thought this would work. In the end, I had fun writing this and I hoped you enjoyed reading this. If it gets awesome Blog , great! If not, it's not the end of the world. Peace!
