Hello & welcome back to A Look at Disney World. You have no idea, how tough it was coming up with the first Music Fridays for this event but then I thought back to my EPCOT list and decided to showcase the music of Captain EO because it's pretty good. Why don't we start with the score by James Horner.
James Horner's Captain EO Score
I really like this score at it ties in nicely with the space opera theme of the film. It is very fun and yet also very calming and soothing at the same time. It also has very adventurous feel to it and while I may have harped on the film for being cheesy, the music is top notch as witnessed here. Now it's Micheal's time to shine.
We Are Here To Change The World
I still have a hard time believing this was an attraction at a Disney park. Watching this video again, it looks like an '80s music video that would've aired on MTV. Wonder, if this ever was aired on TV? As for the song, not bad. Pretty enjoyable and I can now see why they didn't make an EO full length movie. Micheal does not make for a good action hero. And we shall beat you with the power of Pop! Hey, that's the first thing that came to mind. This is something that has to be seen to be believed. It's a time capsule of this period.
Another Part of Me
This song was used to close out Captain EO and my thoughts, I like it. It makes sense to use it in EO as it used to celebrate his team's victory in delivering the gift to the Supreme One. Hey, I didn't say it was a great story, far from it. As I mentioned I love this EO for how stupid it is. This song on it's own is quite fun.
There, you have it, my look at the music of Captain EO, probably the first and last time Michael Jackson will appear on Music Fridays. Pretty cool, that I got to look at some of his music. Join me next time as I delve into why Dreamfinder is a better character then his replacement Dr. Nigel Channing.
